Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury stated on Friday that laws are implemented to ensure greater benefits and advantages for the people.
He made this comment while responding to questions regarding the government’s approval of the Police Commission Ordinance 2025.
Speaking to journalists after attending an International Volunteer Day event at the Fire Service and Civil Defence Multipurpose Training Ground in Rupganj, Narayanganj, Jahangir emphasized that the newly approved ordinance is designed with the public’s best interests in mind.
On Thursday, the government approved the ordinance establishing a five-member Police Commission tasked with modernising the police force and enhancing accountability.
“The ordinance has been formulated to provide the best possible support to the people,” Jahangir stated.
He also noted that any recommendations from the police would be reviewed by the Home Ministry.
