Veteran Bollywood actress and parliamentarian Hema Malini has spoken out to quash false reports circulating about her husband, Dharmendra’s health.
Responding to online speculation that the 89-year-old screen legend had passed away, Hema took to X (formerly Twitter) to express her frustration and disappointment over the spread of such baseless rumours.
Amid the wave of misinformation, the couple’s daughter Esha Deol also issued a statement confirming that her father is alive and stable as of 9:10 am on Tuesday, November 11.
Dharmendra, who was recently admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital following a brief illness, is reportedly under medical supervision and recovering well.
Esha urged fans not to fall for unverified online reports and assured them that the family is in close touch with doctors. Sunny and Bobby Deol have been visiting the hospital regularly, although no official medical bulletin has yet been released. The situation continues to be monitored closely.
Affectionately hailed as Bollywood’s original “He-Man,” Dharmendra transformed the image of the Hindi film hero with his charisma, versatility and rugged appeal.
Since his debut in ‘Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere’ (1960), he has featured in a string of classics, from the poignant ‘Anupama’ (1966) and ‘Bandini’ (1963) to iconic blockbusters such as ‘Sholay’ (1975), ‘Dharam Veer’ (1977) and ‘Mera Gaon Mera Desh’ (1971).
His comic timing in ‘Chupke Chupke’ (1975) further cemented his reputation as one of the most complete performers of his generation.
Over six decades, Dharmendra has remained more than just a superstar; he embodies strength, humility and endurance. Even today, he continues to win audiences over with his warmth and grace.
He was last seen in ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’ (2024) alongside Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon, following his much-loved role in ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ (2023) with Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt and Shabana Azmi.
His next appearance will be in ‘Ikkis’, starring Agastya Nanda, slated for release this Christmas.
