A High Court bench officer has been suspended over bail forgery involving a prime accused in a case over the seizure of 20,000 uniforms for the armed group Kuki‑Chin National Front (KNF).
The officer, Zakir Hossain, was also served a show‑cause notice asking why disciplinary action should not be taken against him, Supreme Court administration sources confirmed.
Attorney General Ruhul Quddus Kazal brought the forgery to the attention of the chief justice, who gave the Supreme Court administration 48 hours to investigate.
The suspension followed the preliminary findings of that probe.
The forged bail order had replaced the signatures of two High Court judges with altered details, including a new case number and police station name.
Based on that order, prison authorities released Sahedul Islam, owner of Ringvo Apparels in Chattogram, who was accused under the Anti‑Terrorism Act.
The forgery, committed seven months earlier, came to light only recently when another accused sought bail in the High Court and cited Sahedul’s bail. The attorney general then raised the matter directly with the chief justice.
