President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir arrived in Sylhet on Tuesday for a daylong visit.
His aircraft landed at Osmani International Airport at 11:27am.
Upon arrival, he was received by Members of Parliament representing various constituencies in Sylhet, officials from the district administration and senior leaders of various political parties.
According to the official itinerary, the President left Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) around 10:30am and landed at Sylhet Osmani International Airport around 11:15am.
He then went to the Sylhet Circuit House by motorcade.
After receiving a guard of honour at the Circuit House, the President offered prayers at the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (R) around 12:30pm.
He was scheduled to visit the shrine of Hazrat Shahporan (R) at 1:25pm.
Extensive security measures were deployed across Sylhet ahead of the presidential visit.
Sylhet Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sarwar Morshed Shamim said 1,000 police officers, along with 200 additional personnel on extra duty and special police units, had been deployed to ensure security.
Sylhet City Corporation Administrator Abdul Quiyum Choudhury said the city had given the highest priority to ensuring a smooth and welcoming visit for the president.
He said all necessary arrangements had been completed by the city corporation to accord a warm welcome to the president.
