HBO has released the first trailer for DC Studios’ upcoming series ‘Lanterns’, set to premiere in August. The show follows veteran Green Lantern Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) and new recruit John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) as they investigate a murder in a Nebraska town.
The trailer highlights the duo’s buddy-cop dynamic, with Hal teaching John to harness his emerald-ring powers while navigating life-and-death situations. Viewers get a glimpse of the Green Lantern costume, power battery and a nod to Ch’p, the extraterrestrial Green Lantern resembling a squirrel.
The cast also features Kelly Macdonald as small-town sheriff Kerry, Nathan Fillion reprising his role as Guy Gardner, Garret Dillahunt as cowboy William Macon, Poorna Jagannathan as Zoe, Ulrich Thomsen as the rogue ex-Green Lantern Sinestro and Nicole Ari Parker as John’s mother, Bernadette Stewart. Laura Linney and Paula Patton have been cast in undisclosed roles.
