Bangladesh pacer Hasan Mahmud secured a place with English county side Kent and received a Lanka Premier League draft call-up from Colombo Kaps on the same day, 1 June 2026. Daily Sun reported the Kent deal after Hasan confirmed the development following trial sessions with the club conducted in the presence of coach Adam Hollioake.

Hasan, collected his sports visa on Monday and now awaits a No Objection Certificate from the Bangladesh Cricket Board before he can formally join Kent. He plans to play two four-day fixtures in June, against Lancashire and Middlesex, before linking up with the Bangladesh squad for the Zimbabwe tour and then his LPL commitments. He expects to return to Kent in September for four more four-day matches, giving him a potential total of six county appearances this season.

Hasan also watched a county match at Beckenham during his time in England, including a fixture against Ben Stokes’ Durham, which gave him direct exposure to the county environment before his deal was confirmed.

Kent become the latest county to recruit a Bangladesh international. Mustafizur Rahman played for Sussex, while Shakib Al Hasan represented both Worcestershire and Surrey in the county circuit.

Hasan returns to competitive cricket after missing Bangladesh’s last Test series against Pakistan as a precaution following a tennis elbow injury sustained during the Bangladesh Premier League. He is playing for Legends of Rupganj in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League, with a fixture against Mohammedan Sporting Club at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

In 13 Tests, Hasan has taken 36 wickets including two five-wicket hauls. He has 33 wickets from 26 ODIs and 28 from 26 T20 Internationals.
