Hanif Sanket turned 68 on 23 October, reflecting on a career spanning more than four decades in television. Best known for creating and hosting the popular magazine programme ‘Ityadi’, he sees his birthday as a reminder of unfinished work rather than simply a time for celebration.
Sanket began his television career under the guidance of veteran presenter Fazle Lohani before launching ‘Ityadi’ on Bangladesh Television in 1989. The programme has earned a lasting place among audiences by combining entertainment, satire, cultural features and social awareness.
Beyond television, Sanket has worked as a writer, director, producer, singer and composer. He has also used ‘Ityadi’ to highlight inspiring people, promote local culture and draw attention to social problems.
A recipient of the Ekushey Padak and the 2026 Independence Award, Sanket says audience affection matters more to him than awards or online views. He hopes to continue making ‘Ityadi’ for as long as viewers want it and he remains able to work.
