A Dhaka court on Wednesday set 28 June for the submission of the further investigation report in the murder case of Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Moncho.

The Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Sefatullah fixed the new date after the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which is conducting the further investigation, failed to submit the report on Wednesday.

With the latest extension, the investigating officer has been granted time for the 16th time to submit the investigation report in the case.

The information was confirmed by Ruknuzzaman, a sub-inspector of the Dhaka Metropolitan Prosecution Division.

Earlier, on 6 January, Detective Branch (DB) Inspector Faisal Ahmed submitted a chargesheet against 17 accused in connection with the case.

Subsequently, on 15 January, the complainant, Abdullah Al Jaber, member secretary of Inqilab Moncho, filed a petition expressing dissatisfaction with the chargesheet.

Acting on the petition, the court ordered the CID to conduct a further investigation.

According to the case documents, Osman Hadi served as the spokesperson of Inqilab Moncho, a political platform formed in the aftermath of the mass uprising.

The prosecution alleged that on 12 December, around 2:20pm, unidentified assailants riding a motorcycle opened fire on Hadi in the Box Culvert Road area under Paltan Model Police Station and fled the scene.

He sustained critical bullet injuries to his head and below his right ear.

Hadi was first taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later shifted to Evercare Hospital for treatment.
As his condition worsened, he was flown to Singapore by air ambulance on 15 December for advanced medical care.

He died on 18 December while undergoing treatment in Singapore, nearly a week after the attack.

Following the shooting, Abdullah Al Jaber filed an attempted murder case with Paltan Police Station on 14 December. After Hadi’s death, the case was converted into a murder case.
