A Dhaka court has set 11 March for the Criminal Investigation Department to submit a report on its further probe into the murder of Inqilab Moncho spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam passed the order after the investigation agency failed to place the report before the court on the scheduled date.
On 15 January 2026, the court directed the Criminal Investigation Department to conduct further investigation after the complainant filed a naraji petition expressing dissatisfaction with the charge sheet submitted by the Detective Branch of police.
Detective Branch Inspector Foysal Ahmed had submitted the charge sheet on 6 January against 17 accused, including alleged shooter Foysal Karim Masud and his parents Humayun Kabir and Hashi Begum.
According to the case statement, Foysal Karim Masud and Alamgir Hossain allegedly opened fire on Hadi while he was travelling in a battery-run auto-rickshaw on 12 December 2025 and fled the scene.
Inqilab Mancha Member Secretary Abdullah Al Zaber filed the case with Paltan Model Police Station on 14 December.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Siddiq Azad on 20 December ordered the inclusion of Section 302 of the Penal Code in the case, which was initially lodged as attempted murder, following Hadi’s death on 18 December.
