In the pursuit of social media fame and romantic gestures, a unique declaration of love has proved rather costly for a young man in Gwalior, India. What was meant to be a romantic tribute, inspired by a popular “trend,” ended with police intervention, a hefty fine, and a scrubbing brush.
Aditya Sikarwar, a resident of Gwalior, found his car transformed into a canvas of affection when his girlfriend decided to decorate it with 3,400 lipstick marks, reports Rediff.
The meticulous task took the young woman about three and a half hours of dedication. Once completed, she uploaded a video of her handiwork to social media, and the decorated vehicle was driven around the city streets for two days.
However, the display did not just attract the eyes of curious onlookers; it also caught the attention of local authorities.
Traffic Police Inspector Abhishek Raghuvanshi reported that a video went viral on social media showing the lipstick-adorned vehicle moving through Gwalior’s City Centre area. Following an investigation, police traced the car to the Thatipur area.
The vehicle was subsequently located, and the driver was taken to the police station. Authorities took a dim view of the romantic display, classifying the cosmetic alterations as an unauthorised vehicle modification. Consequently, Sikarwar was penalised with a fine of Rs5,500 under the Motor Vehicles Act.
In addition to the monetary penalty, police ordered that the car be restored to its original state. Sikarwar was made to clean the vehicle and remove every single one of the 3,400 lipstick marks.
Reflecting on the unexpected turn of events, Sikarwar admitted he was unaware that the stunt violated any laws.
“Since I wasn’t aware that doing so was illegal, after the police action, I cleaned the entire car body to remove the lipstick marks and paid a fine of Rs5,500,” Sikarwar told reporters. He added a word of advice for others: “One should never do anything that violates the law.”
