Abu Baker Mojumder, general secretary (GS) candidate from the “Anti-Discrimination Students’ Council” panel, has raised allegations of vote rigging during the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election.
He claimed, “Pre-filled ballots were found at Amar Ekushey Hall, and ballots for a specific party were pre-filled at Shamsunnahar Hall.” He further alleged that election engineering was taking place, accusing parties involved in power politics of manipulating the election process.
Vice President (VP) Abdul Kader also voiced his concerns, stating, “There is a competition between Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) and Islami Chhatra Shibir on who can violate the election code of conduct more.”
Expressing his displeasure, he remarked, “How can such disorder occur in the DUCSU election? This is a mockery of the students.”
He also accused the Election Commission and the university administration of remaining silent and failing to act against those violating the code of conduct. “They have not even been brought under the law,” he added.
Meanwhile, the university administration issued a press release stating that one polling officer had been relieved of their duties following an incident during the DUCSU and hall council elections.
The officer, Ziaur Rahman, was found to have inadvertently handed two ballot papers to a voter at the Amar Ekushey Hall polling station on the second floor of Curzon Hall. The voter understood the mistake, and the administration quickly resolved the matter.
The university reiterated its commitment to ensuring free, fair, and impartial elections.
