Umama Fatema, VP candidate from the independent “Swatantra Shikkharthi Oikya” panel in the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) elections, has voiced concerns over alleged breaches of the electoral code of conduct during the ongoing DUCSU and hall council polls.

“We are concerned whether there is level playing field in the elections. There are many incidents of code violation at the polling centres, and candidates are entering centers and distributing leaflets violating codes,” she said, reports UNB.

Despite the irregularities, Umama, a former spokesperson of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, said she was happy to witness students’ growing awareness of their voting rights.

Earlier in the day, she cast her vote on the ground floor of the Geology Department.
