Recruitment to 3,110 vacant posts under the Ministry of Public Administration will be completed within the next five years, State Minister for Public Administration Md Abdul Bari told the parliament on Thursday.
Responding to a question from treasury bench member Sarwar Jamal Nizam (Chattogram-13), the minister said short-, medium-, and long-term action plans have already been formulated to address vacancies in government offices under the ministry.
These plans cover six months, one year, and five years, UNB reports.
According to the plan, recruitment to 2,879 vacant posts will be completed in six months, 4,459 posts within one year, and 3,110 posts in five years.
He added that, in line with the action plan’s target of recruiting 5,00,000 government employees “with transparency and speed,” the ministry has asked all ministries and divisions to provide updated information on recruitment status and vacant positions.
Citing the latest Statistics of Public Servants 2024, based on manpower data as of 31 December 2023, State Minister Abdul Bari said the total number of vacant posts across all ministries and government offices stands at 4,68,220.
Of these, 68,884 posts are in grades 1–9; 1,29,166 in grades 10–12; 1,46,799 in grades 13–16; and 1,15,235 in grades 17–20. In addition, 8,136 posts remain vacant under honorary, fixed-pay, and contractual categories.
