The government is considering the establishment of separate or permanent public examination centres across the country to ensure that normal teaching activities in educational institutions are not disrupted during public examinations, Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon has said.
The minister made the remarks in a written reply to a question from lawmaker Ekramul Bari Tipu in Parliament on Sunday.
The session was chaired by Deputy Speaker Kayser Kamal, where the question-and-answer segment was presented.
He said the government is placing high importance on making the existing examination system more disciplined, impartial, and standardised, while ensuring uninterrupted academic activities in schools and colleges during exam periods.
The minister informed the Parliament that a feasibility study proposal for establishing separate or permanent public examination centres nationwide is currently under review.
He added that once the feasibility study is completed, decisions on establishing independent examination centres at the upazila, district, or regional level will be taken based on the number of examinees, geographical location, availability of infrastructure and land, and the government’s financial capacity.
According to the minister, implementation will be carried out in phases based on the recommendations of the study and subsequent approval of development projects. However, no specific timeframe can be provided at this stage.
He said the government’s objective is to build a modern, transparent, impartial, and effective examination system so that academic activities are not disrupted during public examinations and students can participate in a better examination environment.
