Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan has commented that the government must take responsibility for the attack on Nurul Haque Nur, adding that there is an attempt to bring back the Awami League through the Jatiya Party.
On Sunday afternoon, the adviser made these remarks after visiting Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur.
Shojib Bhuiyan said, “The government must take responsibility for this attack. There is an attempt to bring back the Awami League through the Jatiya Party. Fascist forces are now demonstrating their strength in various formats. They are trying to vent their frustration of defeat on those who were at the forefront of the July mass uprising. We want to issue a warning to them.”
He added, “A strong investigation committee has already been formed to bring those involved to justice. We have learnt that even before this program, Gono Odhikar Parishad and Nurul Haque Nur were threatened. The government must scrutinise which individuals and institutions, even within the state structure, are engaging in fascist activities against various political parties, and take necessary measures.”
In response to a question, Asif Mahmud said, “First, we must understand the difference between a mob and a political programme. How can a political party act as a mob? How can you call a registered party’s programme a mob? Firstly, the attack came from the Jatiya Party. We have seen before that such heated situations can arise among political parties. But labeling it as a mob to neutralise one side and facilitate another is not right. The Jatiya Party is a specific and identified fascist entity.”
