The total number of voters in Bangladesh has been confirmed as 12.63 crore, according to Election Commission (EC) Secretary Akhtar Ahmed. He provided this information to the press on Sunday, in front of his office at the Election Commission Building in Agargaon, Dhaka.
He further stated, “The Election Commission has published the updated voter list for the second time within a year. The supplementary list includes 12.63 crore voters, of whom 6.41 crore are male, 6.22 crore are female, and 1,230 belong to the third gender.
Back on August 10, the commission published the draft updated voter list for 2025. At that time, Secretary Akhtar Ahmed revealed that the number of voters on March 2 had been 12.37 crore.
Following this, the commission conducted house-to-house data collection to include missing voters, which added 45.71 lakh new voters. Simultaneously, 21.32 lakh deceased, or ineligible voters were removed from the list.
As a result, the supplementary list now reflects a total of 12.61 crore voters.
Ahmed also noted that the Election Commission plans to publish the voter list three times this year. The first list was published on March 2, the second on August 31, and the third will be published on October 31.
