The government has formed a 16-member national committee to coordinate management, law and order, and repatriation of forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals living in camps in Bangladesh.
The Cabinet Division issued a notification on Tuesday, naming the home minister as the convener of the committee.
According to the terms of reference, the committee will oversee overall coordination of management and law enforcement activities in the camps. It will also supervise all efforts related to the repatriation of Rohingya people.
The committee will monitor, evaluate, and advise on actions taken regarding the Rohingya population.
This includes oversight of the National Task Force (NTF) on Repatriation and the National Executive Committee working on relocation to Bhashan Char, along with ensuring necessary security arrangements.
The committee will meet at least once every three months, with provision to convene additional meetings if required. It may also call any official or individual to attend its meetings.
The Ministry of Home Affairs Political Wing will provide secretarial support to the committee.
