Bangladeshi actor Tariquzzaman Tapan is in critical condition as he undergoes treatment for advanced cancer, with his family appealing for urgent support to continue his care.

Tapan, known for his work across television and cinema, has been diagnosed with oesophageal cancer, which was detected late last year. Medical assessments indicated that the disease had already progressed to an advanced stage by the time of diagnosis. He has since undergone several rounds of chemotherapy.

The actor is currently receiving treatment at his residence in Aftabnagar in Dhaka after attempts to secure hospital admission proved unsuccessful due to a shortage of available beds. His condition has deteriorated in recent weeks, with severe physical weakness and an inability to eat, leaving him largely bedridden.

Family members say the cost of treatment has placed a significant financial burden on them. They have sought assistance from the government and the wider artistic community, stating that continued care has become increasingly difficult to sustain.

The actor’s condition has prompted concern within the entertainment industry, with colleagues and admirers expressing hope for his recovery.
