The Bangladesh government has expressed deep shock and concern over the deaths of two Bangladeshis and injuries to several others in an airstrike in Saudi Arabia’s Al-Kharj Governorate. The information was provided in a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday.

The two deceased Bangladeshis are Bachchu Mia from Katiadi Upazila in Kishoreganj and Mosharraf Hossain from Sakhipur Upazila in Tangail.

The Bangladeshis injured in the attack are receiving treatment at local hospitals. Officials from the Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh have visited the hospitals and inquired about the condition of the injured.

The press release stated that the embassy is in close communication with Saudi authorities regarding the repatriation of the bodies of the deceased.

The Bangladesh government strongly condemned all attacks causing loss of innocent lives and called upon all concerned parties to exercise maximum restraint.

An urgent call was also made to the international community to take swift and effective initiatives to calm the situation and prevent further loss of life.

The press release also mentioned that the government is giving the highest priority to the safety and welfare of Bangladeshis residing in the Middle East and is closely monitoring the evolving situation.
