Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has stated that steps have been taken to bring back the two accused in the Hadi murder case who were arrested in India. “The government is working to repatriate them. The Ministry of Home Affairs has taken necessary steps in this regard,” he said.
He made these remarks during a press briefing in Cox’s Bazar on Monday afternoon. The briefing was held after a meeting of the Cox’s Bazar District Law and Order Committee.
The home minister said, “According to the bilateral treaty between Bangladesh and India regarding the extradition of accused, they will be brought back very soon.”
In response to a question, he said, “It is wrong to label every incident as mob violence; many are calling some isolated incidents mob violence. However, the government is not condoning mob violence in any way and is working to stop it.”
Salahuddin Ahmed stated, “The government has decided to launch anti-terrorism operations across the country. These operations will begin immediately after Ramadan.”
He said, “We will not allow any terrorists, extortionists, or organised criminals to remain outside the law. This is this government’s commitment and the people’s expectation. We are working to ensure that the people of the country are at ease in all other matters and that the law-and-order situation is comfortable. Our activities to maintain good governance according to public expectations across the country will continue, and utmost efforts in this regard will be sustained.”
