The government has cancelled the appointments of two Assistant Public Prosecutors (APPs) in the District and Sessions Judge Court of Cumilla, according to an order from the Law Ministry.

The appointments of Advocate Md Monir Hossain Patwari and Advocate Saidul Islam were cancelled with immediate effect, said the order signed by Senior Assistant Secretary (GP-PP) of the Ministry of Law Md Faruk Hossain.

The two lawyers were appointed as Assistant Public Prosecutors on 29 October 2024, in the Cumilla District and Sessions Judge Court.

There are allegations that both prosecutors were recently involved in legal activities on behalf of Jisan Mia Prodhan, an expelled leader of Chhatra Shibir, who is an accused in a rape and abortion case in Cumilla.

The cancellation order, issued by the Law Ministry’s Solicitor Sub-division, was stated to be effective immediately. No further details were immediately available.
