The government will introduce a pilot blended learning system in selected educational institutions in Dhaka next week, combining in-person and online classes to ease traffic congestion and conserve energy.
Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon announced the initiative at a press briefing at the International Mother Language Institute in the capital on Thursday.
“Currently, steps are underway to launch this as a pilot project in renowned schools and colleges located in traffic-prone areas of Dhaka,” he said.
“The system will start in institutions that have the capacity to implement it effectively.”
Under the new schedule, classes will run six days a week. In-person sessions will be held on Saturday, Monday, and Wednesday, while online classes from home will take place on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Fridays will remain a weekly holiday.
Milon added that while students will join online classes from home, teachers must be present at their institutions to conduct lessons.
Secondary and Higher Education Division Secretary Abdul Khaleque, along with heads of several prominent educational institutions, attended the press briefing.
