Gold prices have increased again in Bangladesh, with the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) raising the price by Tk9,856 per bhori.
BAJUS announced the new price in a notice issued on Thursday morning, saying the revised rates would come into effect from 10am on the same day.
According to the notice, the price hike came after an increase in the price of pure gold (tezaabi gold) in the local market. Considering the overall market situation, the new gold prices have been fixed, including VAT.
Under the revised rates, 22-carat gold will cost Tk2,32,930 per bhori (11.664 grams), while the price of 21-carat gold has been set at Tk2,22,491 per bhori.
The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk1,91,056 per bhori, while gold sold under the traditional method will cost Tk1,56,064 per bhori.
BAJUS said the new prices would remain effective at all jewellery shops until further notice. However, labour charges will apply depending on the design of the ornaments.
As VAT is included in the selling price of gold and silver ornaments, jewellers cannot collect VAT separately from customers, the association said. It added that existing BAJUS rules would remain in place for the exchange and purchase of ornaments after excluding fixed VAT, labour charges and stone costs.
Earlier, BAJUS last adjusted gold prices on 31 July, raising the price of 22-carat gold by Tk2,216 per bhori to Tk2,23,074, including VAT.
At that time, the price of 21-carat gold was set at Tk2,13,043 per bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk1,82,950 per bhori and traditional gold at Tk1,49,474 per bhori. The revised prices came into effect from 10:30am on the same day.
With Thursday’s adjustment, gold prices have been revised 98 times in Bangladesh this year so far. Prices have been increased 48 times, reduced 49 times, and adjusted once for VAT. In 2025, gold prices were revised 93 times, with 64 increases and 29 decreases.
Silver prices have also been raised following the latest gold price adjustment. BAJUS increased the price of 22-carat silver by Tk292 per bhori, setting it at Tk4,899 per bhori, including VAT.
The price of 21-carat silver has been fixed at Tk4,666 per bhori, 18-carat silver at Tk4,024 per bhori and traditional silver at Tk3,033 per bhori.
Silver prices have been adjusted 61 times in the local market this year, with increases recorded 31 times and reductions 30 times. In 2025, silver prices were adjusted 13 times, including 10 increases and three decreases.
