While the BGB remains fully prepared to respond to any emergency situation, Ansar-VDP is deploying 7,328 members across 1,126 puja mandaps in Dhaka district and metropolitan area alongside striking teams and technology-driven monitoring.

BGB prepared to respond

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) will remain prepared to respond to emergency situations during Sharadiya Durga Puja, announced BGB Dhaka Battalion (26 BGB) Commanding Officer Lt Col Rafiqul Islam.

Expressing confidence that coordinated initiatives among law enforcement agencies, combined with public awareness and cooperation, will play a vital role in ensuring overall security, he urged everyone not to pay heed to rumours or spread unverified information.

He advised citizens to promptly inform the nearest BGB camp or law enforcement agencies if any suspicious activity is noticed, reinforcing BGB’s firm belief that “religion belongs to individuals, festival belongs to all.”

Ansar-VDP deploys 7,328 members

To ensure a peaceful, orderly, and safe environment for celebrating the upcoming Sharadiya Durga Puja 2026, the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party has undertaken an initiative to deploy 7,328 Ansar-VDP personnel across 1,126 puja mandaps in Dhaka district and the metropolitan area from 15 October to 22 October 2026.

Disclosing these details on Friday, District Commandant of Dhaka District Md Rasheduzzaman said that 5,532 Ansar-VDP members will perform duties across 866 puja mandaps in Savar, Dhamrai, Keraniganj, Nawabganj, and Dohar upazilas of Dhaka district, while 1,796 members will serve across 260 mandaps in the North, South, East, and West zones of Dhaka Metropolitan area.

Deployments are categorised based on security considerations into three classes: highly important, important, and general. In addition, two female Ansar-VDP members will be stationed at each puja mandap to assist female visitors with security, discipline, and safe movement.

To respond rapidly to emergencies and tackle untoward incidents, six Ansar battalion striking teams have been kept ready to take swift action in coordination with relevant law enforcement agencies.

A central control room has been established at the Dhaka district level, alongside control rooms activated at every upazila and police station (thana) level, to monitor operations, gather field information, and coordinate emergency responses.

Ahead of deployment, briefing parades were organised at upazila and police station levels to instruct personnel on duties, discipline, vigilance, conduct with visitors, and emergency protocols.

Furthermore, as part of technology-driven security, two Ansar-VDP members at each mandap have been assigned as end users of the “Sharadiya Suraksha” app to immediately report any incident or emergency to relevant authorities.

Rasheduzzaman said that coordination will be maintained with local administration, police, other law enforcement agencies, and the Puja Celebration Committee.

He added that all members have been instructed to maintain vigilance, professionalism, and responsibility, reiterating the force’s commitment to communal harmony, public safety, and peaceful religious celebrations while seeking cooperation from all concerned.
