The price of gold in Bangladesh has surged once again, hitting a new record. The rate has increased by up to Tk 4,200 per bhori, bringing the price of 22-carat gold to Tk 2,32,055 per bhori.
The new rates came into effect across the country on Tuesday.
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) announced the price hike in a statement on Monday night. The increase was attributed to a rise in the cost of pure gold in the local market, prompting a revision of gold prices nationwide.
Under the new rates, the price of 21-carat gold stands at Tk 2,21,499 per bhori, while 18-carat gold is priced at Tk 1,89,890 per bhori. Gold sold under traditional methods is now Tk 1,56,881 per bhori.
Silver prices have also risen. The rate for 22-carat silver is Tk 5,949 per bhori, 21-carat silver is Tk 5,715 per bhori, and 18-carat silver is Tk 4,899 per bhori. Silver sold under traditional methods is now Tk 3,674 per bhori.
