The long-delayed feature ‘Golap’ is preparing to move forward at last, with director Shamsul Huda confirming that filming is expected to begin in February after an extensive reworking of the screenplay. The political thriller, starring Nirab Hossain and Pori Moni, had been announced early this year but stalled before production could begin.
Rather than pushing ahead with what the team considered an incomplete foundation, the director said the pause became an opportunity to rebuild the story. He noted that discussions with writers and cast led to a fresh structure for the film, which is set in a small town marked by political tension.
“We wanted to ensure the script was sound before returning to set,” Huda said. “The revisions are complete and the cast has been kept updated. Once the production house confirms the schedule, we will lock the shooting dates.”
Nirab said the delay allowed the creative team to strengthen the material and add new sequences that better serve the story. He acknowledged that his own long period abroad contributed to the earlier slowdown but said the project is now in a much stronger place.
“The priority has always been to offer audiences a well-crafted film,” he said. “The script needed refinement and now it feels ready. We expect to start filming early next year.”
Produced by Golpowala Productions, Golap is planned as a political thriller with action elements, written by Anik Biswas, who has also penned the dialogue and screenplay. With the script overhauled and the team aligned on a new timeline, the film is finally moving towards production after a year of uncertainty.
