Goethe-Institut Bangladesh hosted an inspiring piano concert on Tuesday evening, October 28, featuring internationally acclaimed German pianist Viktor Soos.
The performance, held at the Institute’s auditorium in Dhanmondi, offered a memorable evening of expressive artistry and technical brilliance. The event was organised in cooperation with DEUTSCHER MUSIKRAT gGmbH.
A full-house audience was treated to a captivating repertoire that highlighted Soos’s exceptional musical sensitivity and virtuosity. His dynamic interpretations and nuanced expressions deeply resonated with listeners, earning enthusiastic applause throughout the evening.
A laureate of the European Piano Competition 2024 and the International Robert Schumann Competition 2021, Viktor Soos is regarded as one of the most distinguished pianists of his generation. He has performed extensively across Europe, Asia and the Americas, collaborating with renowned musicians such as violinist Midori and clarinettist Sabine Meyer.
The concert was part of Goethe-Institut Bangladesh’s ongoing initiative to foster intercultural dialogue and artistic exchange through music. It also marked the first public performance featuring the Institute’s newly acquired Kawai GL-10 baby grand piano, which added an extra layer of richness to the evening’s soundscape.
As a soloist, Soos has performed with prominent orchestras including the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, Stuttgarter Kammerorchester, Brandenburger Symphoniker, Lübecker Philharmoniker and Staatskapelle Halle. His performances are frequently broadcast on major German radio stations such as Deutschlandfunk, NDR, BR, MDR, WDR and SWR.
Soos has received numerous awards in national and international competitions. He was the Second Prize winner at the prestigious European Piano Competition 2024 in Bremen and won the International Robert Schumann Competition 2021 in Zwickau.
In addition to his concert career, Soos regularly conducts masterclasses in Germany and abroad. Since 2024, he has been a lecturer at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover (Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media) and is a scholarship holder of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation (Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes).
Soos began his musical journey as a junior student at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main under Professor Oliver Kern.
From 2015 to 2021, he studied piano at the Musikhochschule Lübeck with Professor Konrad Elser before continuing his studies at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover under Professor Bernd Goetzke.
