Ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election, the government will begin fresh administrative postings on 1 November, with strict directives to prevent officials from being appointed to their home or in-laws’ districts.
Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam made the remark on Wednesday while briefing reporters after an Advisory Council meeting at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka.
He added, “No official will be posted to their home district. They will not be posted in their in-laws’ district either. If any close relative is contesting in an area, the officer will not be assigned there.”
Shafiqul pointed out that the Ministry of Home Affairs, under the guidance of Home Affairs Adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, is following the same standard for police postings. “They are identifying the most suitable candidates, and a list of 64 officials has already been prepared.”
The press secretary emphasised that the postings would be made without bias. He added that the meeting discussed the spread of misinformation and disinformation on social media.
Quoting Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, the Shafiqul said, “There will be attempts to derail the election through planned propaganda from within the country. AI-generated photos and videos will be released.
“We must respond instantly and prevent such disinformation from spreading. To make the election festive and fair, people must be informed about electoral guidelines, voting procedures, and how to act if disorder occurs.”
The army, the press secretary added, has confirmed the deployment of 92,500 personnel from the armed forces and navy, with one army company assigned to each upazila.
