German Ambassador to Bangladesh Rudiger Lotz paid a courtesy call on Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman in Dhaka’s Bashundhara on Tuesday morning.
The ambassador was accompanied by the embassy’s Political and Press Officer, Sharnila Nuzhat Kabir.
During the meeting, it was addressed that the 13th national election is important for Bangladesh. Cooperation and technical assistance from Germany were sought to ensure the election is held in a free and fair manner.
At the same time, continued support from Germany was expected for the protection of women’s rights in Bangladesh, the enhancement of workplace skills, and overall development.
The meeting involved constructive discussions on the necessity of further strengthening Bangladesh’s sustainable democracy and democratic institutions. Both sides expressed hope that bilateral trade, investment, and economic cooperation between Bangladesh and Germany would be further accelerated in the future.
Jamaat Ameer Shafiqur was accompanied by the organisation’s Assistant Secretary General and Head of the Central Publicity and Media Department, Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair, and Foreign Affairs Advisor Mahmudul Hasan.
