A delegation from German development bank KfW has concluded a six-day review of climate-resilient infrastructure initiatives in Bangladesh. The team assessed the Climate Resilient Infrastructure Mainstreaming project and its affiliated Climate Resilient Local Infrastructure Center, both implemented by the Local Government Engineering Department.
Led by KfW Portfolio Manager Johannes Hengst, the mission included Technical Expert Peter Rooney and Portfolio Co-ordinator Urban Development SK Tawhidur Rahman. The review process began with field inspections of ongoing development work in Satkhira district from 22-24 November , followed by high-level meetings in Dhaka.
On 25 November, the delegation met with LGED’s Chief Engineer Javed Karim to discuss CRIM-CReLIC matters. The following day, the team held separate discussions with the Local Government Division, the Economic Relations Division, and the German development agency GIZ regarding CReLIC’s current activities and future potential.
The review mission concluded on 27 November with a comprehensive session involving LGED officials and consultants. The meeting focused on CReLIC’s progress, necessary follow-up actions, and future planning. Md Shahahanur, additional chief engineer of LGED who serves as concurrent CReLIC Director, presided over the closing session.
LGED’s representation at the final review included CRIM Project Director Md Abdul Khaleque, CReLIC Executive Engineer Md Latif Hossain, Senior Assistant Engineer Fatema Ismat Ara, Assistant Engineer Arpan Pal, and relevant consulting team members.
