Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) held a day-long training on writing sub-project proposals under the Academic Transformation Fund (ATF), part of the Higher Education Acceleration and Transformation (HEAT) Project, as it seeks to strengthen research quality and institutional competitiveness.
The programme, titled “Academic Transformation Fund (ATF) Sub-Project Proposal Writing for the 2nd Round under the Higher Education Acceleration and Transformation (HEAT) Project,” was organised by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) on 17 February at the IQAC seminar room on the university campus in Gazipur 1706, according to a press release.
Around 100 PhD-holding faculty members of GAU took part in the training, aimed at enhancing research standards, improving global competitiveness and accelerating institutional transformation through structured and impactful project proposals.
GAU Vice-Chancellor Professor GKM Mustafizur Rahman attended as chief guest and formally inaugurated the session. IQAC Director Professor Nasrin Akter Ivy presided over the event.
GAU Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor M Moynul Haque and Treasurer Professor Md Safiul Islam Afrad were present as special guests. IQAC Additional Director Professor Mohammad Sharif Raihan moderated the session.
The keynote presentation was delivered by Professor Dr Mohammod Moninoor Roshid, Wing Manager and Research Coordination Specialist of the HEAT Project. His presentation covered the ATF application process, categories of sub-projects, proposal development strategies, rubric-based evaluation criteria and project management approaches.
In her welcome remarks, Professor Nasrin Akter Ivy said that strong proposal-writing skills are central to ensuring quality and transparency in research.
Professor GKM Mustafizur Rahman said sustainable transformation in higher education depends on innovative research and high-quality project implementation. He expressed optimism that effective use of ATF opportunities would support GAU’s goal of becoming a research-driven and internationally competitive university.
The workshop concluded with a question-and-answer session, where faculty members sought clarification and shared views on proposal preparation and implementation.
