The Ambassador of France to Bangladesh Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet paid his inaugural courtesy call on the Adviser for Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh Md Touhid Hossain on Monday.

During the meeting, both sides discussed the longstanding and productive bilateral relations between France and Bangladesh across various sectors.

The Ambassador conveyed France’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with nations like Bangladesh that champion multilateralism – especially through peacekeeping operations – and advocate for peaceful international relations and conflict resolution through dialogue.

In this context, he underscored the importance of collaborating with Bangladesh to globally oppose any attempts to seek advantage through intimidation and force, citing Russia’s war against Ukraine as a pertinent example.

The Ambassador reaffirmed the support of France and the European Union for Bangladesh’s development, noting shared democratic values. He emphasized that France and the European Union are reliable partners deserving of the full attention of the Bangladeshi authorities.
