A Fits Airlines flight from Sri Lanka narrowly avoided a mishap after a fox ran into its landing gear while the aircraft touched down at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport early hours of Saturday.

The incident occurred shortly after 2am, according to multiple airport sources.

The aircraft, carrying more than 200 passengers, was preparing to complete its landing when the animal suddenly darted across the runway and got stuck near the plane’s wheel assembly.

Thanks to the pilot’s quick response, the aircraft was halted safely before any damage occurred. Ground staff later removed the fox, and the plane was towed off the runway without further issues.

Airport officials said operations resumed normally after a brief disruption, while the Civil Aviation Authority has launched an inquiry into how the animal entered the secured runway area.
