Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon has said university courses of four years must be completed within four years, stressing the need for quality change in the country’s education sector.
The minister made the remark while speaking as chief guest at an exchange meeting with exam centre officials of Chattogram Education Board, Madrasa Education Board, and Technical Education Board at Chattogram College Auditorium on Tuesday.
“We must bring change to the education sector so that students’ academic time is not wasted,” the education minister said. “We have already published the SSC and HSC examination routines for 2027 so that students can prepare properly. From then on, we will also coordinate the university admission process.”
“There is no alternative to quality change in the education sector. For this, university courses of four years must be completed within four years,” he added.
Milon said teachers play an immense role in nation-building. “Teachers must work with responsibility in shaping the next generation. Teachers must have self-motivation. Teachers must earn their own respect.”
The education minister noted that cheating methods in examinations have changed, with many attempting to use digital devices. “Centre secretaries must remain vigilant in this regard and conduct examinations transparently,” he said.
The minister said effective roles in the education sector can unite everyone in the country, adding that extensive work must also be done in the hill tracts, as in the rest of the country.
The event was presided over by Chattogram Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board Chairman Professor Abdullah Al Mamun Chowdhury. State Minister for Land and Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin and Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Shahadat Hossain were present as special guests.
