Four individuals have been killed in a single day in two separate incidents within Khulna Metropolitan, said police.
Miscreants killed three members of the same family in Dorbesh Goli of Ward No 31 under Laboncara Thana and another individual in Karimnagar under Sonadanga Thana, using firearms and sharp weapons.
In Dorbesh Goli, a grandmother and her two grandchildren were killed inside their own home. The deceased grandmother is Mohidul Begum. The two grandchildren are Mustakin and Tayeba.
Police suspect they were killed at some point on Sunday. Their bodies have been recovered and sent to the morgue of Khulna Medical College Hospital. However, police could not immediately ascertain the reason behind the killings.
The mother of the two deceased children works at the Khulna District Administrator’s office and the father works at the Khulna Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
In Karimnagar, six individuals killed a young man named Alauddin Mridha,35, by gunshots and stabbing. After evening, they arrived on motorcycles, first shot him, and then stabbed him to death. He died on the spot. Later, his body was sent to the morgue of Khulna Medical College Hospital.
Locals indicated that the deceased Alauddin was involved with drug dealing and the killing might be a result of a dispute over sharing money. However, police could not confirm anything before the investigation.
