Five more people died from dengue across the country in the last 24 hours, while 172 others were hospitalised with the viral fever.
According to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday, the latest hospitalisations included 37 patients in Barishal division (outside city corporations).
It further says 28 in Chattogram division (outside city corporations), 16 in Dhaka North City Corporation, and 17 in Dhaka South City Corporation were admitted to hospital.
Additionally, 14 patients were admitted in Khulna division (outside city corporations), eight in Rajshahi division (outside city corporations), two in Dhaka division (outside city corporations), and two in Mymensingh division (outside city corporations).
During the same period, 100 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries this year to 5,455.
So far in 2026, the country has recorded 5,924 dengue cases. Of the total infected, 62.1 per cent are male and 37.9 per cent are female.
The total death toll for the current year stands at 18.
In comparison, the country recorded 1,02,861 dengue cases and 413 deaths between 1 January and 31 December 2025.
In 2024, there were 1,01,214 reported cases and 575 fatalities.
