Vietnamese companies showcased industrial machinery, electric motors and medical tourism services at the first Vietnam-Bangladesh Business Forum and B2B Trade Connecting Event 2026 in Dhaka on Monday, as both countries moved to deepen trade and investment cooperation after more than a year of disruption linked to political developments in Bangladesh.

The event, held at the InterContinental Hotel in Dhaka, was organised by Vietnam’s Foreign Market Development Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in coordination with the Embassy of Vietnam in Bangladesh and the Vietnam Business Society in Bangladesh (VBS).

Organisers said the forum drew 200 Bangladeshi enterprises. The Vietnamese delegation included 25 companies from software production, pre-engineered steel buildings, mechanical and electrical engineering, fertiliser manufacturing, agricultural and forestry processing, tourism and import-export sectors. It also featured industrial machinery and electric motors under the “Made in Vietnam” brand, along with medical tourism services.

Ahead of the main event, a market-sharing session was held on May 18 between organisers, Vietnamese firms operating in Bangladesh and visiting companies. Discussions covered legal frameworks, tariffs, cultural factors and technical barriers, described as open and detailed to support trade engagement.

On the Bangladeshi side, the forum was attended by officials from the Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Public Administration, Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with representatives of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry, the Potato Exporters Association, professional bodies and 215 Bangladeshi enterprises.
