Budget session for the 2026-27 fiscal year of 13th National Parliament concluded on Wednesday after 26 working days. This was the second session of the current parliament and the first budget session under the BNP government.
According to sources from Secretariat, the general discussion on the budget lasted for 14 working days.
A total of 316 lawmakers from both the treasury and opposition benches participated in the discussion, which spanned a total of 48 hours and 51 minutes. During this session, 10 important government bills were passed.
Regarding parliamentary proceedings, 715 notices were submitted under Rule 71 of the Rules of Procedure. Of these, 24 notices were accepted, and detailed discussions were held on 22 of them. Additionally, 125 two-minute notices were discussed under Rule 71(A), while four decision proposals were discussed and settled under Rule 131.
The session also saw significant activity during the question-and-answer periods. A total of 278 questions were submitted for the prime minister, with 35 of those answers being tabled. For various ministries, 5,031 questions were received, and answers were provided for 3,474 of them.
Eleven standing committees were formed during the session, including a special committee related to constitutional amendment. The Business Advisory Committee was also reconstituted during this period.
