The Fire Service and Civil Defence has unveiled the jersey and medals for the upcoming “Fire International Marathon-102”, scheduled to be held on 28 November at Purbachal 300 Feet Road.
The initiative aims to familiarise the public with the Fire Service’s emergency hotline, 102, and raise awareness about preventing fires and other accidents. The marathon will feature four categories – a half-marathon (21.1km), 10km, 5km and a 1.02km race for children, said a press release on 1 October.
The unveiling ceremony was held on Sunday at the conference room of the Fire Service and Civil Defence Directorate. Brigadier General Sultanul Afreen Junaid, Director General of the Fire Service and Civil Defence, attended as the chief guest, alongside representatives of various running communities, pacers, journalists and sponsors.
Addressing the event, Sultanul Afreen Junaid thanked the sponsors and organisers for helping promote the hotline. He called on running communities to help publicise the hotline and support the Fire Service as volunteers.
The marathon is being organised under the slogan “Run & Rise for Humanity, Recall 102”.
