Fire Service recovered the body of a youth from the Someshwari River in Durgapur, Netrokona, five hours after he went missing while bathing.
Durgapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khandakar Shaker Ahmed confirmed the matter. The deceased was identified as Ashik, 20.
According to police and local sources, Ashik worked at a garment factory in Dhaka and had returned home for the Eid holidays. While bathing in the Someshwari River with several others that afternoon, he was suddenly swept away by the current.
When he could not be found, locals began a search. Police and Fire Service were alerted and arrived at the scene to launch a formal rescue operation, recovering Ashik’s body about five hours later.
OC Khandakar said police handed Ashik over to his relatives after completing legal procedures.
