Fire Service and Civil Defence has held a stakeholder meeting in Dhaka to review preparedness and enhance coordination among government and private agencies for earthquake response and rescue operations.
The meeting, organised at the Fire Service headquarters on Monday, brought together representatives from Dhaka, Gazipur, Narayanganj, Narsingdi, Munshiganj and Manikganj districts.
Fire Service Director General Jahed Kamal said the meeting aimed to strengthen cooperation and improve response capabilities.
“We need to work together to face any major earthquake,” he said. “This coordination will help us respond more effectively.”
Fire Service Director (Operations and Maintenance) Lt Colonel Mahmudul Hasan, who chaired the event, emphasised increasing coordination and communication among all stations, units and storekeepers in the six districts, said a press release.
The meeting discussed contingency planning and training to improve rescue operations.
Representatives from government and private organisations, including Dhaka North City Corporation, Narayanganj and Gazipur city corporations, Maks Group, Abul Khair Group, Maksons Group and various contracting firms, shared their views.
About 70 representatives attended the meeting.
Fire Service Assistant Director Kazi Nazmuzzaman, Assistant Director (Operations) AKM Shamsuzzoha, fire station chiefs and station officers from the six districts also attended the event.
