Fire Service and Civil Defence has formed a five-member investigation committee following the fire that broke out at the Cargo Village of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
The committee, led by Lt Col Mohammad Tajul Islam Chowdhury, director of Operations and Maintenance at the Fire Service, was officially formed on Monday afternoon.
Other members of the committee include Deputy Director Abdul Mannan, Senior Station Officer of Kurmitola Fire Station Nahid Mamun, Warehouse Inspector Tozammel Hossain, and Deputy Director Saleh Uddin.
The committee has been tasked with identifying the origin and cause of the fire, as well as estimating the extent of the damage.
The fire broke out around 2:15pm on Saturday at the airport’s cargo house. A total of 37 firefighting units worked in coordination to bring the blaze under control.
