A fire broke out at Central City Hospital in Chattogram’s Prabartak mor on Sunday night. The hospital has been closed for some time.

Local residents and passersby reported seeing smoke and flames, prompting them to immediately alert the Fire Service. Fire units from Nandanakan and Chandannapara fire stations arrived at the scene with four units and managed to break the lock and enter the premises to bring the fire under control.

Abdul Mannan, an officer from Agrabad Fire Service, stated that the fire was extinguished around 12:45am. The cause of the fire is yet to be known. An investigation will determine the extent of the damage and the cause.

Previously, on June 26, following violations of health safety regulations and various irregularities, the hospital was shut down upon the recommendation of the Directorate General of Health Services. The closure order was implemented through a letter signed by Civil Surgeon Dr Jahangir Alam.
