Police arrested a 45-year-old man on Sunday for allegedly raping his 11-year-old daughter in Nilphamari Sadar upazila.
The accused, identified as Abdul Kuddus, was detained at approximately 1pm from his residence in Kisamat Dogachhi village under Tupamari Union.
According to police and local sources, Abdul Kuddus allegedly raped the victim, who is the daughter of his second wife, Taslima Begum.
The incident came to light after the child informed a neighbour about the assault. Upon learning of the matter, local residents detained Kuddus and alerted the authorities.
A team from Nilphamari Sadar Police Station arrived at the scene, took the accused into custody, and rescued the child. Police officials stated that the victim would be sent to Nilphamari General Hospital for a medical examination.
Zillur Rahman, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nilphamari Police Station, confirmed the arrest and stated that legal proceedings against the accused are currently underway. The victim is presently under the protection of the police.
