Bangladesh Cricket Board director and former national captain Faruque Ahmed has denied claims of a dispute inside the Bangladesh Cricket Board after a photo from the President’s Box went viral on social media.
The image, which showed Faruque Ahmed with fellow director M Najmul Islam, led to speculation about fresh tension among board members. The discussion grew due to Najmul Islam’s past controversies and recent public criticism of others within the board.
Faruque Ahmed said there was no problem between the directors.
“I believe our relationship is still good. I never think it has turned bad,” he said.
He also questioned the authenticity of the image and suggested it may not reflect what actually happened.
“I think the picture may have been edited using AI,” Faruk said, adding that there was no heated situation at the venue.
According to him, the discussion in the photo was normal and work related.
“It was absolutely a normal conversation. We had visited Rangpur Garden and were discussing the facilities there, and comparing them with those at the Dhaka stadium,” he said.
Faruque Ahmed also raised doubts about the pointing gesture seen in the image.
“If you look closely at the image, I don’t think that finger is mine. I don’t know where that finger came from,” he said.
He said the surroundings made any confrontation unlikely.
“A woman was calmly watching the match with her child right in front of us. It’s not possible for two people to behave that way in such a setting. No decent person would do that,” Faruk added.
Faruque Ahmed’s comments aim to put an end to speculation and calm talk of unrest inside the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
