The government has formed a 15-member cabinet committee to oversee the distribution of ‘Family Cards’, aiming to ensure smooth implementation before the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.
The notification was issued Thursday by the Committee Section of the Cabinet Division.
Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury has been appointed chairman of the committee.
The remaining 14 members include ministers, state ministers, advisers, and senior secretaries from key ministries and divisions.
Among the members are the Ministers of Women and Children Affairs and Social Welfare; State Ministers of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, and Women and Children Affairs & Social Welfare; advisers Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Mahdi Amin, and Rehan Asif Asad; Cabinet Secretary; and secretaries from the Finance, Information and Communication Technology, Planning, Local Government, Election Commission Secretariat, Women and Children Affairs, and Social Welfare ministries.
The committee has been tasked with submitting a preliminary report by 24 February.
Its mandate includes designing a proper implementation framework for the Family Card programme, developing a beneficiary selection system, piloting the programme in one district per division, reviewing existing programmes for women for possible integration, and recommending a digital Management Information System (MIS) that links the National ID database with the National Household Database.
The move aims to streamline Family Card distribution and ensure a comprehensive and transparent beneficiary system across the country.
