Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Minister Abu Zafar Mohammad Zahid Hossain has announced that the government plans to begin distributing ‘Family Cards’ in the initial phase before Eid, aiming to improve the living standards of citizens.
Addressing a briefing on the ministry’s activities, held at the Ministry of Social Welfare’s meeting room, Zahid Hossain emphasised the government’s commitment to serving the public.
He stated, “Our main responsibility is to serve the people. We have come prepared to eliminate irregularities and work together with the public to move the country forward.”
He assured that ongoing projects under the ministry will continue and that none of them would be discontinued. He also highlighted that, in line with the party’s electoral manifesto, the government is set to begin distributing Family Cards before Eid. “We will fulfill our responsibilities in a proper manner,” he added.
State Minister for Social Welfare and Women & Children Affairs Farzana Sharmin underscored the importance of implementing effective plans to improve the lives of the two-thirds of the country’s population.
She stressed that development projects should not remain theoretical but must be carried out in ways that benefit the public.
“We have limited time and resources, but we must optimise them to create a better future for the disadvantaged,” she said.
Farzana Sharmin expressed optimism that with collective efforts, the Ministry of Social Welfare will become an effective institution to serve the country’s impoverished and marginalised communities.
The meeting also included a presentation on the ministry’s ongoing development projects.
Mohammad Abu Yusuf, secretary of the Ministry of Social Welfare, along with senior officials and heads of various departments under the ministry, were also present.
