BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has alleged that efforts are underway to create a major division in the country.
He said, “A group, a certain quarter, is trying to create a path of division in Bangladesh in the name of religion.”
Fakhrul was speaking at the inauguration of a BNP programme, “Desh Gorar Porikolpona (Plan for Nation Building),” at the Krishibid Institution auditorium in Dhaka. The party’s acting chairman, Tarique Rahman, joined the event virtually as the chief guest.
“We believe people of all faiths will live together in Bangladesh, as they should,” he said, adding that the fundamental basis of the 1971 Liberation War was the idea of “Bangladesh for all”.
He also highlighted Tarique’s slogan, “Bangladesh First,” calling it vital for both national and international relevance. “This slogan must be engraved in our hearts. We must move forward holding on to this principle,” Fakhrul said.
He reaffirmed the BNP’s determination to overcome all obstacles and setbacks and urged the party’s student wing to take a leading role in this effort.
