An earthquake estimated at magnitude 5.8 shook Diyarbakir, Adiyaman, Sanliurfa and surrounding provinces in Türkiye on Thursday.
The tremor was strongly felt in Diyarbakir, while residents in several neighbouring provinces also reported experiencing the shaking, reports Turkey Today.
Initial reports put the earthquake at magnitude 5.5, although subsequent measurements varied. Türkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) recorded the quake at magnitude 5.4, while Kandilli Observatory estimated it at 5.8.
The earthquake struck at around 10:40am local time, with its epicentre reported in Sanliurfa’s Karakopru district.
Further details about the tremor were not immediately available.
