BNP Secretary General and Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has conveyed his greetings and best wishes to Muslims in Bangladesh and across the world on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.
In a message issued on the occasion, Fakhrul said fasting is the central act of worship in Ramadan. He noted that during this sacred month, a believer who seeks mercy from Almighty Allah receives forgiveness. He described Ramadan as a month of greater dignity and blessings compared with the rest of the year.
Quoting the Holy Quran, he said “Quran was revealed in the month of Ramadan as guidance for mankind and as a clear distinction between truth and falsehood.”
He added that the month offers a special opportunity for worship and spiritual purification.
“Fasting helps people cleanse their sins and attain moral and spiritual growth” Fakhrul said.
The objective of Ramadan, he added, is to refrain from wrongdoing and to strengthen faith and piety, while Allah’s blessings multiply through fasting and prayers.
Fakhrul expressed hope that through self-restraint, people would move away from hatred, vengeance, ill will, obscenity and moral decay.
He prayed that peace, comfort and justice would prevail in society during the holy month.
The newly appointed minister also wished happiness, peace and well-being for all.
He ended the message by saying “Allah Hafez, Bangladesh Zindabad.”
